Escuintla Medical Center
A homebase for our medical ministry
Goal: $100,000
Introduction
In Guatemala, there exists a profound need for an integrated medical center that addresses the holistic well-being of the less fortunate population and their surrounding communities. We are driven by our Christian faith to establish a discounted medical center that offers comprehensive care, focusing on physical, mental, and spiritual health at a price they can afford. The proceeds from this medical center will provide the necessary funds to continue our free medical services to those suffering from extreme poverty in the villages we currently serve in this area.
The Problem
Escuintla, Guatemala, the district where a majority of our ministry areas are located, faces a critical healthcare gap, with the less fortunate having limited options – an insufficient government hospital or exclusive private services. The nearest free clinic, situated 5 kilometers away near a trash dump, adds logistical challenges. For those managing a visit to the government hospital, the financial hurdle remains insurmountable when it comes to affording essential medications. This financial strain perpetuates a cycle of illness, widening socio-economic disparities.
Our Vision
Our vision for this medical center is clear – it will be here for those who have long struggled to afford adequate healthcare. At its core, it will feature a clinic staffed by a dedicated Guatemalan doctor and nurse, providing expert medical care with compassion. What sets this medical center apart is its state-of-the-art laboratory, ensuring that diagnostics are precise and swift. Additionally, we will maintain a fully stocked pharmacy, offering essential medications at prices that won’t burden the already financially vulnerable.
Our primary goal is to provide top-tier healthcare services at discounted prices, making it accessible to the less fortunate population in Escuintla and the surrounding area. We firmly believe that health is a fundamental right, not a privilege. To further this vision, the proceeds generated by this medical center will support our current ministry of free mobile clinics that reach out to 12 villages plagued by extreme generational poverty, where quality healthcare remains a distant dream, thus creating a self-funded ministry to the district of Escuintla.
To turn this vision into a reality, we have outlined a high-level budget of $100,000, allocated as follows:
- Clinic Furniture and Equipment: $15,000
- Lab Equipment and Supplies: $25,000
- Pharmacy Inventory: $15,000
- Staff Salaries (6 months): $25,000
- Building Improvements, Licenses, & Permits: $10,000
- Rent and Utilities (6 months): $5,000
- Marketing: $5,000
This budget reflects our commitment to building a sustainable and impactful healthcare center in the heart of Escuintla.
